20 Ways To Stay Productive All Day
We all have those days when we feel lazy or have a lot of stuff to do as per the schedule. And in spite of us having a tight schedule already, time just keeps throwing tasks our way without any notice! And hey what about those already piled up pending work? Don’t stress, I have compiled a list of simple, easy to follow tips to help you stay productive and at ease. I personally follow them every day and have got my results! Chalo let’s hop in!
1 Healthy breakfast: First things first, start your day with a healthy hearty breakfast. If you skip breakfast you will feel- grumpy, weak and plain lazy! Also make sure to have your meals on time filled with sufficient nutrients, to maintain your energy level throughout the day.
2 Prioritize: Do I need to stress more on keeping a planner? A planner is a must for all! You do not necessarily have to go ahead and buy a new planner. Your old notebooks or journals will do too. Take a look at your work schedule and decide accordingly what needs to be done first and what can wait. If you are a forgetful person like me, then create a daily checklist.
3 Listen to energetic music: If you are in no mood to work but there’s a hella lot stuff to complete. Compile a list of your favorite energetic music and listen to them before work. If possible play it in the background keeping on low volume.
4 Keep your work desk clean. It will help you to stay focus at work. I am not sure about you but a lot of messy things on my work desk, makes me stressed thinking ‘when will I get the time to clean up this mess!’ It’s a huge distraction for me hence I like my work desk clean and well organized.
5 Stay positive: Start your day with a positive thought or if you have time meditate and clear your mind. Negativity isn’t going to make you achieve anything productive.
6 If not able to focus on task due to surrounding, then change your surrounding. (I personally get bored sitting at the same place every day! 😛 So periodically you will find me sitting in a new place.)
7 Avoid distractions: Get rid of all the white noises. If the sound is coming from the TV either turn it off or lower the volume. If people talking is distracting you, close the door. Or better isolate yourself. Also, let people know that you’re busy and will be available after a certain time.
8 Reward yourself: It will keep encouraging you to work harder and smarter. (A chocolate or a dessert won’t hurt!)
9 Short breaks: I personally can not work for long hours straight. I take short 15-20 minutes break every now and then. During the break time, I could be watching my favorite TV show or a part of a movie left to watch.
10 Keep your body moving: Don’t be a chair potato! Stay active it keeps your energy level high. If you have extra time in hand, join a Gym or exercise regularly. It will not only make you fit but will also reduce stress and anxiety.
11 If you need then don’t hesitate to ask for help, especially when you have a very tight schedule.
12 Do not stress but meditate. Meditation helps you keep mental peace and improves your cardiovascular health greatly. It further improves your concentration, meaning you can be productive!
13 Don’t waste your time on unimportant emails or messages. I personally check my emails at the end of the day. And I do not like to participate in those gossiping groups either! 😛 I may only come in light when the topic is of my interest or some important stuff is being discussed; which will help me out in something. (Most of the time I am dead in all such groups!)
14 Are you a morning person? Get up a bit early to finish pending works and you’ll have enough time to do other scheduled tasks. Or are you a night person? You can push some work to complete at night and the rest during the day. Researchers say that afternoon is the best time when you are more attentive at work if you’re a night person. You know yourself better so plan accordingly.
15 Limit mobile usage while working on important projects. Don’t use a mobile phone, if needed use for the immediate task only. I’ve turned off all application notifications and muted all the groups. It bothers me when I have an important task at hand and notifications from apps keeps flowing in. Or linger in the status bar. (Anyone like me? )
16 Do one thing at a time. Do not multitask because it divides your attention and makes you feel stressed easily.
17 Always stick to your deadlines. It helps you to achieve your goals faster and keeps you ahead at the task.
18 If there is something you can not do because of your tight schedule, then learn to say no. You can always postpone it or simply don’t say yes to every request made to you.
19 Balance the light in the room. If there’s low light you will feel lazy and sleepy, thus you’ll work slow and there’s goes your productivity out the door for the day!
20 Last but not the least, stay hydrated! Keep eyes on your fluid intake. I always carry my water bottle with me. Sometimes I add a small piece of lemon for taste and refreshment.
