10 Makeup Bag Essentials Every Beauty Savvy Girl Should Have
If you’re the kind of person who is low-key obsessed with makeup, you’re going to love filling up your beauty bag with goodies. Makeup can be something entirely practical that we use to hide a few flaws, or it can be pure art, a way for us to express our creativity. Regardless of how you see it, there are a few essentials that every girl will find useful, and we’re here to list them for you.
Want a smooth, poreless appearance? A primer can help with that, and it can also help your makeup last longer and prevent creasing. Benefit Porefessional is the cult classic, but you can switch it up for Maybelline Baby Skin if you want a drugstore dupe.
Quality makeup brushes are the best way to apply your makeup more easily and make you look flawless. A flat top kabuki brush for your foundation, a fluffy blush brush for your blush and bronzer, tapered or fan brush for a highlighter, and at least one blending brush for eyeshadow. Get a good set and you’ll have a much easier time with the application.
A BB cream can work instead of a foundation if you just want to even out your skin tone, but a good foundation is pretty basic and necessary for those days when we need more help and want to cover up blemishes and dullness. Maybelline Fit Me Matte & Poreless is a good, medium coverage foundation for oily skin, or if you’re dry-skinned, try Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation, or Revlon ColorStay for Normal/Dry Skin. POLA Silfique Pressed Powder is also a good choice because you can easily touch them up on the go, and they’re very gentle on the skin.
Concealer is a pretty great item because it can be used both to cover up dark circles and blemishes and as an eyeshadow primer that will make your eyeshadow pop. The best concealer on the market is, of course, Tarte’s Shape Tape. Nothing tops it, but since it’s a bit pricey, you can go for Maybelline’s Instant Age Rewind, or some of the other amazing drugstore concealers.
Every girl needs a good eyeshadow palette, and Too Faced Chocolate Bar is the perfect nude palette with pops of color, so it works both for every day, and your party looks. For a more affordable option, go for NYX eyeshadows because the quality pretty much matches (and sometimes exceeds) higher-end brands.
Full, luscious brows are sexy, and a brow pencil is a simple way to fill in any sparseness and give your eyebrows some definition. Brow Wiz from ABH is easy to use or go for NYX’s Micro Brow Pencil.
An absolute must-have for every girl. Too Faced Better Than Sex, or Roller Lash from Benefit are incredible mascaras, and worth the investment if you want fuller, longer eyelashes that will frame your eyes perfectly. Maybelline’s The Falsies is also pretty good at separating and elongating your lashes and giving them volume.
Bronzer and highlighter
Bronzer gives such a beautiful warmth and definition to your face, and if you put it on you don’t have worry about contouring much. Are you very pale and annoyed at the fact that every bronzer looks very orange on you? We’re going to make you very, very happy with this suggestion then – Essence’s Sun Club bronzer in the light shade is amazing even for the palest princess, and it’s so ridiculously cheap that anyone can afford it. For highlighter, pick Sleek’s Solstice Highlighting Palette, or Wet n Wild Highlighters, which are better than a lot of high-end brands.
A nice nude everyday shade, and something red or coral pink for the evening out. NYX Lip Lingerie has a beautiful range of various nudes, and you’re bound to find something to work for your skin tone. They dry down matte and last a long time with minimal touch-ups.
Gonna be out all day? We all hate it when our makeup starts breaking down and looking patchy in spots, so to prevent that, use a good setting spray that will fix it all in place and make it last. There are many good setting sprays on the market, so pick one depending on your particular skin type.
And the last thing you’ll need is a nice, colorful makeup bag to keep your little treasure in place, so find something that you can fill up with your favourite makeup and make sure to go on a mini shopping spree so you can have fun and test out all of our recommended beauty tips and items.
