5 Amazing Benefits of Hemp Seed Oil for Skin and Hair
Hello everyone! We are going to discuss the benefits of hemp seed oil today. Hemp seed oil, in my opinions, is still underrated oil. The main reason for it being underrated is that fact that most people are still unaware of the benefits it has on your body. There are internal problems you can fix with hemp seed oil as well, but my favorite way to use it is just for my skin and hair.
Now, I would first like to clear a slight misconception that most of us have. Hemp seed oil is not marijuana or marijuana oil. Marijuana and hemp are from the same plant family but there is one significant difference between the two, and that is the presence of tetrahydrocannabinol or THC for short.
THC is the compound that makes marijuana potent. It is absent from hemp, so if you believe that you will get high by using hemp seed oil on your hair and skin, you are entirely wrong, my friend!
Pure CBD oil and the use of hemp seed oil in products and cosmetics is slowly becoming common because of the myriad of benefits you can gain from this oil. Let us find out what some of these benefits are:
Combats Greasy and Acne-prone Skin
I have combination skin, which means it is greasy beyond measure in summers and as dry as sandpaper in winters. So it’s like I can’t catch a break in any weather at all.
In the summertime, not only is my face an absolute grease-bomb, but it also breaks out at the tiniest of stimulus. Like, I remember a time when we went to the beach and forgot my sunscreen and had to borrow some from a friend. My face went nuts. I reached home and broke out so badly that some of the scars from that time remained for months.
Now that you have some real knowledge of how bad my skin is let me tell you why CBD oil works for me. I cannot even imagine putting more or less any other oil on my face because I am so afraid of the breakouts and most oils out there are quite comedogenic.
Hemp seed oil, on the other hand, is not greasy. It consists of about 60% linoleic acid, which combats the greasiness on our faces and keeps it mattified for extended time periods.
Other than that, hemp seed oil is also anti-inflammatory. Therefore, it prevents inflammatory conditions like acne from showing up on your face. You, thus, remain beautiful and pimple free!
Retains Moisture in the Skin
Now, on to my other skin problem: dryness. There are many acne-relieving products I use which dry my skin out. My skin also breaks out when it is dry because my face is forced to release more oils on my face.
Hemp seed oil fights my acne and breakouts without drying my skin out. It retains the moisture on my skin and keeps my skin soft and smooth.
This property of hemp seed oil also makes it a fantastic product for me to use in winters. My skin is sandpaper dry in winters, and combining some hemp seed oil with my usual skin care products can make a world of a difference. My skin becomes soft and supple after only a few uses. Naturally, the oil has become a staple in my routine!
Fights against Many Skin Diseases
Hemp seed oil also fights against skin diseases like eczema and psoriasis. Both of these diseases become exacerbated in dry weather or at times when the skin is not retaining any moisture. In eczema, the skin becomes very itchy, and rashes begin to appear while in psoriasis, the skin becomes scaly.
Hemp seed oil fights inflammation, so it prevents rashes from appearing in people who suffer from eczema. It also helps the skin retain its moisture, so the itchiness and the scaly properties of the skin even begin to relieve once you apply hemp seed oil to the skin.
There has been some research showing how hemp seed oil is also excellent for combating skin cancer. The study showed extracts of hemp and marijuana tackling cancer cells in rodents. There isn’t much information available on this yet, but it could mean good news for the future!
Helps Your Hair Grow
Hemp seed oil is not only excellent for the skin; it works wonders for your hair as well. It consists of omega-3, omega-6, and omega-9 fatty acids. These fatty acids improve the nutrition that your scalp receives by regulating the blood circulation in the area. The follicles then help your hair grow longer without showing any signs of damage.
Other than that, hemp seed oil also helps in making each strand of your hair thicker than before. Thicker strands of hair look much more voluminous and are easy to style.
Ever since I started using hemp seed oil in my hair, I can style it any way I want. It looks gorgeous and grows as long as I want.
My hair used to be quite weak at one time. The reason why I never tried to style it was because it would break off when you tugged it in the slightest.
Hemp seed oil also works in strengthening your hair as well. One of the main reasons why your hair becomes stronger is because hemp seed oil also prevents harmful conditions of the scalp, just like it prevents harmful diseases of the skin. It prevents dandruff and overproduction of sebum on the scalp, both of which work to weaken your hair.
Other than that, when your scalp receives better nutrition from your blood vessels, your hair became more stable and rooted in its follicles. The grip of the follicles prevents your hair from breaking off when you brush or shampoo it.
Lastly, the fatty acids present in the hemp seed oil also make the strands of your hair thicker. Thicker strands are much less prone to breaking when you brush or style them.
