We all know that aloe vera gel has so many benefits for our skin. Aloe vera gel is anti-inflammatory, moisturizing and soothes itchy and dry skin. It further helps in nourishing the skin and also has anti-acne properties. Nowadays we see so many skincare products which have also included aloe vera extracts. I and my family have been using aloe vera gel in DIY face masks. And today I will be sharing with you 4 DIY aloe vera face masks for all skin types. The recipes are very simple, it includes only two effective ingredients for each mask. All the ingredients are straight from your kitchen and garden!
I would suggest you use aloe vera gel from the plant. In case you don’t have the plant then you can use aloe vera gel from a well-known brand. I have used aloe vera gel from Khadi Natural. Now, let’s check out the remedies!
This aloe vera face mask can be used on tan skin and will also work on dark spots. It can also be tried to achieve an instant facial glow!
Aloe vera & Lemon
You will only need aloe vera gel and lemon juice.
In 2 teaspoons of aloe vera gel add 1 spoon of lemon juice.
Mix this well and you will find it to be in liquid consistency. You can apply this mask with your fingertips or with a face pack brush.
Keep it for 20 minutes then rinse it well with normal water. This mask would last for 2-3 uses. You can transfer this aloe lemon mask into a small jar and store it in the fridge. Since lemon is used here you will feel a slight tingly sensation which is normal.
Using this mask you will see a significant reduction in the tan and dull skin. It will also lighten dark spots and pimple marks. Since lemon has lightening properties. Lemon will also help in controlling excess facial oil. Whenever my face looks dull and tan I use this face mask. Mostly it is during the Summer season. This mask can also be used by oily, combination, normal and dry skin types. But if you have extremely sensitive skin then it may not suit you.
For this aloe vera face mask, you will need aloe vera gel and neem leaves. I purchased some neem leaves for only INR 10 at a local flower shop. You can use neem powder too if you have.
Aloe vera & Neem
I have made neem leaves paste in the mixture. It hardly takes few minutes to do this.
In 2 teaspoons of aloe vera gel add 1 teaspoon of neem leaves paste.
The mixture will be of a liquid consistency and will feel a bit gritty to due to tiny neem leaves. This mixture can be used for 2-3 times, so store it in the fridge.
Keep this mask for 20 minutes. You will feel tingly sensation due to the neem leaves paste. Since neem is also antiseptic in nature.
People with a pimple prone skin will benefit from this aloe neem face mask. Neem has anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, antibacterial and anti-acne properties. It will also help in controlling excess facial oil and pimples. My brother uses this face mask on his oily and pimple prone skin. And I have been noticing a significant reduction in his pimples! *Touch wood!* I also like using this face mask during the Summer season or whenever I am facing infection breakouts. This mask can also be used by oily, combination with pimples prone skin type. It could feel a bit drying so people with dry skin may not like it.
For aging skin
For this aloe vera face mask, you only need aloe vera gel and basil/tulsi leaves. I have a tulsi plant at home so I didn’t have to buy these leaves from anywhere else!
Aloe vera & Basil
Prepare tulsi leaves to paste in a mixture. It looks dark green in color.
In 2 teaspoons of aloe vera gel add 1 teaspoon of basil leaves paste.
This mixture will be a bit thicker than the aloe neem paste and will be slightly runny too.
Apply this face mask for 20-25 minutes. Unlike the above other face mask prepared, this mask be will used one time. So for next time, I suggest you prepare tulsi leaves to paste beforehand!
Within the first usage, you will notice your skin glowing! This happens due to the ingredient tulsi which provides glowy effect and to some extent is also anti-aging. Mum loves using this mask and she says that it works on her occasional adult acne too! I also swear on this mask because it instantly revives the facial skin! This mask can also be used for oily, combination and normal skin types.
For dry skin
For this aloe vera face mask, you need honey and aloe vera gel. I suggest you use pure and organic honey for effective results. But if you have honey from some other brand already at your place then you can use that also.
Aloe vera & Honey
In 2 teaspoons of aloe vera gel add 1 teaspoon of honey (if you have only dry skin) add 2 teaspoons of honey (if you have dry with flaky skin).
Apply this mixture for 20-25 minutes. It will feel a bit sticky due to honey but that’s okay!
Honey has antibacterial, antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory and moisturizing properties! I personally love using this aloe honey face mask on my flaky skin! As I use Retinol and my skin flakes the most during Monsoon and Winter season and that’s when I will be using this mask more! This face mask is also suitable for all skin types. But if you have dry, extremely dry with flaky skin then you’ll love it!
