How to Save Money on Makeup Budget Beauty Tips 1 How to Save Money on Makeup | 7 Budget Beauty Tips

We girls love makeup and are constantly obsessed with makeup products, aren’t we? But not all of us can afford quality and high-end makeup products. And going with low-quality makeup products won’t give you the desired makeup look. Plus it isn’t good for your facial skin either! So how do we get those quality makeup products and also save money on makeup? In today’s post, I will be sharing 7 practical budget beauty tips to help you save money on makeup!

How to Save Money on Makeup | 7 Budget Beauty Tips

1. What Is Your makeup Need?

Before buying a new makeup product ask this question to yourself- Do I really need this? Or I just want this because all the beauty gurus are going gaga about this?

For example, I shop for foundations which are matte, gives medium to high coverage and do not oxidize on my skin. When I know what I really need I don’t go for any foundation just because they are overhyped and I am constantly seeing them in my feeds! Really, what’s the point of buying it if I don’t really NEED it?

Other few personal examples- I don’t buy glosses because they don’t suit on my oily face. I don’t buy blushes because my cheeks have a natural pink flush to them. I don’t buy highlighters either because I have natural inside out glow in my skin and my skin gets oily which looks naturally highlighted in the photos. (This could literally go on and on so I am going to stop here!)

Similarly, you must get clear on what you really need and what are you particularly looking for in a makeup product. This way you won’t end up buying the makeup product which you will regret buying later. And you will be using the makeup product for a really long time! You also might end up buying the same product again and again. Because you found what works best for you!

So, following the makeup trends may not be the right choice for you. (Unless you have a lot of money to spend on makeup products which enter the market or which are trendy!)

2. Shop for Multipurpose Makeup Product

We all have done this at some point or the other in our life. That is- using the same lipstick as blush. I remember doing this in my pre-teenage time. So find a makeup product which has multi uses or it could be you already own some! Remember all beauty products come with an expiration date. So when you start using them for other purposes this way you will hit the pan soon before it expires.

My personal examples are- I use the Maybelline Face Studio Master Contour Palette as eyeshadows too. I use Patanjali Aloe Vera to moisturize my skin, in my DIYs and it also works as a good primer. Johnson baby powder can be used instead of dry shampoo and also in baking under eye area or even the entire face. (Comment below your favorite multipurpose makeup product!)

3. Research and Shop for Dupes of Expensive Brands

My recent blog post on Lakme 9 to 5 Lipstick Red Coat where I have found it to be a close match to Mac ruby woo. You can also read blogs or watch videos to find out the best dupes of the high-end makeup products. It is okay if you don’t have the budget to get the high-end makeup product but at least you can get the same effect with the dupe!

There are many top and well-known brands who come up with a dupe of high-end makeup products. (Share with me your high-end makeup dupes finds!)

4. Coupons and Deals

There are some great deals and coupons sites online. And sometimes even e-commerce sites give you the opportunity to redeem points. All these great deals are useful when you want to buy products in bunch maybe for you and other family members as well. Search and find the best couponing sites for e-commerce sites which you mostly use. Some sites or brands also gives you loyalty points and sometimes you have opportunities like- on a minimum purchase you get 1 kohl free!

To stay updated with all the latest coupons and deals subscribe to their sites to receive an email notification. So that you can use such deals when you need it. (I would say you are living under a rock if you are not using the coupons yet! 😛 )

5. Try Samples Before Purchasing

Okay, so you found this amazing makeup product which you believe matches the desired makeup look you wanna create. You have read blogs, saw videos and you feel deep inside that this is your new found makeup need which you will also use on a regular basis. But it costs a tini tiny more than your set budget. What do you do now? Simple, ask for a sample on their counters. This way you will get 100% confirmation if this is worth your hard earned money. Then next time you can happily buy that product.

6. Look for Discounts on Quality Brushes and Tools

If you have the right set of makeup brushes and tools then all your makeup products are properly applied without giving you a smudged look. For example, the brush or spongy type applicators which come in most eyeshadow kits is not the right tool to create a variety of eye makeup looks with.

And you can’t even go with cheap low-quality brushes too because then they might be rough on your skin or not dense enough. Or could be that the brush hair starts coming off within just a few uses!

That is why it is a wise choice to invest in quality makeup brushes and toolset. Most e-commerce sites have discounts running regularly on their sites. You can squeeze yourself in to grab these discounts. What I do is, I add products to my wishlist and I regularly check for discounts. When I see that the prices have dropped I waste no time in getting my hands on them!

7. No Impulse Buying!

Do you really need to buy that new foundation? Are you finished with your current foundation? Or has it expired? If yes, then you need that new foundation. Otherwise, do not buy on impulses even if you see a huge price drop. Trust me, the site will come up with more discounts in the future too!

Final Note

So this is how I buy beauty and makeup products. Also, I mostly shop online to get great deals and discounts on them. Which tips do you follow? Or will be following henceforth? 😀
