Lakme 9 to 5 Red Coat Lipstick Review | Shade MR1
I was not yet ready to take that huge step to buy Mac Ruby Woo. Honestly, I did not have a budget for such pricey lipstick. So I was looking out for dupes available in other brands. I found a few lipstick brands who had a red shade similar to that of Ruby Woo’s. And the red coat from Lakme 9 to 5 was one of them. In this post, I will be reviewing Lakme 9 to 5 Red coat which I have been using for many months now. Find out if it is one of that perfect dupe for Mac Ruby Woo!
There was no mention of the ingredients anywhere on the lipstick box.
How to Apply Lakme 9to5 Lipstick
Personally, I noticed this lipstick bleeding from the edges of my bottom lip. So I suggest that you should first line your lips with a pencil lip liner. You can use Lakme 9 to 5 red alert pencil lip liner. As it goes well with this shade.
I personally love the rose gold bullet packaging of this lipstick. It gives off metallic and luxe vibes. I have never fallen in love so much with a lipstick’s packaging before! It comes encased in a card paper box. Also, you can find the lipstick name and the shade name on the bullet.

My Skin Type
Fair with warm undertones.
Color and Texture
It is a very close resemblance to the Mac Ruby Woo. It is bright red in color with orangish hue to it, which you can find upon closer inspection only.
The texture is not to dry considering a matte lipstick. It feels slightly powdery due to the primer but applies on the lips smoothly. (On non-chapped lips.)
Lakme 9 to 5 Red Coat Lipstick Swatches
It contains a very yummy dark chocolate kind of fragrance. (Each time I have to resist myself from biting off of it!) Which I can sniff on all day long. (Ha! Crazy me!)
It is super pigmented and the color shows up beautifully just in one swipe. It is pigmented enough to show up on pigmented lips. So you don’t have to use any foundation or concealer on the lips prior to applying this lipstick.
It could easily last for 6 to 7 hours and even more. So re-application isn’t needed. But the lipstick does disappear after eating oily food or drinking. Also, this isn’t transfer-proof and kiss-proof.
But it does survive non-oily food and if you are careful while drinking.
It’s matte and non-sticky but not entirely matte as it has some shine to it. The shine can be noticed from close observation. By the way, you can take the shine off the lipstick by dabbing some talcum powder or pressing your lips on a tissue paper.
Lakme 9 to 5 lipstick in the shade red coat feels very light on the lips. And it does not dry out the lips either. Since it’s a primer plus matte lipstick it feels very comfortable on the lips throughout the day.

I love it!
I am happy with my purchase. It’s a very beautiful red shade which will suit all skin types and I suggest you try it. Due to its primer + matte formula, it really lasts pretty long when compared to other matte lipsticks. People who don’t have time to re-apply lipstick will definitely love it. Though it is not an exact match to Mac Ruby Woo, it is very close to its shade. What do you think about it?
