Satthwa Moroccan Argan Oil Shampoo Review | No Sulphate & Paraben
Moroccan argan oil shampoo is a new launch from the brand Satthwa. I have previously used their Premium Hair Oil and I love it! So I was super excited to try this shampoo. It claims to be all harmful chemical free and it has got some of my favorite hair care ingredients like – argan oil and jojoba oil! I am currently using this shampoo and here is my honest review on it. So hop on to know how it really works!

Direction of Use
Packaging
I am in love with its packaging! Doesn’t it scream luxe?! It comes in a shiny dark brown colored large tube. The flip cap shuts tight, and no leakage is noticed yet. All the important details about the product are also mentioned on the tube. It’s quite large so not actually travel-friendly but it’s leakage proof so you can carry it around with you without worry.

My Hair Type
Chemically straightened
Color and Texture
It’s colorless and has got a nice runny consistency to it. There is also some shiny blue reflect on it. (Not sure if you can see it in the pic!) It lathers quite enough even though being sulfate-free.
Fragrance
It has got an amazing fragrance! I think I have smelled it before somewhere. Maybe in men’s shaving product? Or perfume? Nevertheless, it’s calming and refreshing. It overpowers the fragrance of conditioner and hair serum. And the fragrance lasts in your hair for about three days. Isn’t that great?! I mean till your next hair wash your hair and scalp will smell fresh! Don’t worry it won’t give you any headache neither it will irritate your nose.
Effectiveness
I read many good reviews about this shampoo and hence I was pretty excited to try it out. However, on my hair, it worked differently. Not sure if their formula changed or it’s my hair type – chemically straightened. (My regular shampoo is Loreal 6 Oil Nourish, I also use the Loreal 6 Oil Nourish Conditioner.)
I have mixed feelings about this product hence I tried it in three ways:
- No hair oil, no conditioner, follow up with serum – I rarely experiment with my hair when it comes to hair products since my hair is quite sensitive like my skin. So when I tried it for the first time I didn’t want to confuse my hair by using a chemical-free shampoo and then using a chemical conditioner. So I only shampooed. It thoroughly cleansed my hair. But I found it to be very drying. Like along with the grease from the hair it left my hair undernourished and dry. Hence for next time, I used my regular conditioner.
- No hair oil, follow up with conditioner and serum – After shampooing I used my regular conditioner and followed up with my regular hair serum (I use Livon Hair Serum currently.) The dry effect has somehow gone unnoticed but I still felt like my hair is lacking something. So next time I oiled my hair.
- Hair oil, follow up with conditioner and serum – This time I oiled my hair prior to hair wash (Currently using Nature Sure Hair Growth Oil) then shampooed, then conditioned. And as usual, I used my hair serum when my hair was damp. I was surprised to see how within one wash only it cleansed off the hair oil! Or else normally for my waist-length hair I have to shampoo twice to remove the hair oil! (And that’s why I feel lazy to oil my hair! 😛 ) And this time my hair looked healthy – cleansed, well-nourished and fresh!
To explain the drying feeling consider this example – when you use a soap bar to wash your face it leaves behind a dry feeling. And when you use a liquid face wash it leaves behind a slimy residue, a slightly moisturized feeling. So on my hair, I felt a dry feeling post hair wash. And thus there was a need to priorly oil my hair then condition and use a serum.
Pros of Satthwa Moroccan Argan Oil Shampoo
- Best for people with stinky scalp or stinky hair
- Cleanses scalp and hair thoroughly, even hair oil in one wash
- Best for people who use hair oil regularly
- Can be used only once in a week, so the tube will last longer
- No slimy residue left behind (it’s a non-residual shampoo)
- Best for oily/greasy scalp and oily/greasy hair
- Clears mild to moderate dandruff
- Chemical-free
- Cruelty-free
- No extra hair fall noticed
Cons of Satthwa Moroccan Argan Oil Shampoo
- Not recommended for chemically straightened hair (because of drying effect)
- Not for dry scalp and dry frizzy hair (because of drying effect)
Must use hair oil prior, and follow up with conditioner and serum. (Not a con though, these are steps which you should otherwise follow for healthy-looking hair!)
Final Verdict
I like it for its thoroughly cleansed effect like how it removes all the hair oil within one hair wash. But for my hair, it kind of left it with very dry looking (when no hair oil and conditioner used). It could be because my hair is chemically straightened. But I have read other reviews when used on normal hair, and how it works great on them! So if your hair is chemically straightened like mine you can skip it. And if not, go ahead and try it out. And let me know how it works for you in the comment section down below! Or have you already tried it? I’d love to hear your different experience. Please share it down below so I and others can know how it works on different hair types. 🙂

Thank you so much for the honest review! I really thought this would be more moisturizing because it’s an oil shampoo, and it was surprising to find out that it dried your hair out. Still, it may work really well for other people.
I always appreciate your thorough and honest reviews, Snehal! I agree with you on the packaging. It is gorgeous. I don’t know that I could ever use just shampoo in my hair. It is just too long and curly. A good conditioner is an absolute must for me. Speaking of that, it is time to go do a deep condition with some coconut oil.
I like that this product is natural and cruelty-free. I also appreciate the thorough experimentation and explanation you did for this review. You truly did extensive research to come to your conclusions. Sounds like a great product for someone with naturally straight hair.
I have been using this too and it is good to work on dry, dull and frizzy hair. Best fact is that it is natural.
I use wella one and honestly don’t want to change the brand frequently. Sti after this review will try it for sure.

I must admit I haven’t tried the Satthwa brand before. However, reading your review here makes me want to give this a try. Certainly, the pros greatly outweighed the cons in what I believe was an objective assessment of this product. Looking forward to giving this a go, thank you.
Heard a lot about the benefits of Argan for hair. Would love to try this after reading the review.
Impressive review. Always knew about the advantages of Moroccan oil, now one can reap its benefits in this product.
I always worry about what I put in my hair because I color it regularly. I worry about extra products further drying out my scalp. I fear I might have the same experience you did but I’m always game to try something new.!
